Louie Anderson to Star as Talking Cat in Comedy in the Works at Fox (Exclusive)

Variety has learned exclusively that Anderson is set to star in and executive produce the multi-camera comedy “Tigsley” at Fox. The project has received a script commitment with a penalty attached. “Tigsley” is described as an adult comedy about a family dealing with life, love, the pursuit of happiness, and their obnoxious insult-hurling talking cat (Anderson). According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Anderson will appear onscreen in a cat costume rather than lending his voice to a CGI or puppet character.

Anderson and Mike Sikowitz developed the story for the series together, with Sikowitz serving as writer and executive producer. Anderson’s frequent collaborator Abraham Geisness will also executive produce. Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment will produce, with Sikowitz currently under an overall deal at Sony.

HBO’s ‘Our Boys’ and the Struggle to Tell Real Stories When Truth is Under Attack

HBO’s ‘Our Boys’ and the Struggle to Tell Real Stories When Truth is Under Attack
This week’s impeachment hearings — in which countless witnesses reaffirmed how Donald Trump had withheld aid to Ukraine until the country agreed to investigate the son of political rival Joe Biden (something even Trump has more or less admitted to) — was nonetheless a reminder how even the truth won’t prevent competing narratives in the media. For storytellers looking to accurately document real-life events for TV or film, that makes telling the definitive story even more challenging.

And yet, true-life stories have come to dominate TV, particularly in the limited series category. While remakes and reboots of old intellectual property

‘The Feed’ Review: Amazon’s Answer to ‘Black Mirror’ Has a Solid, Eerie Vision of the Future

Futuristic stories tend to upend the usual ways we judge an effective story. Every detail of some fictional, far-off future is a storytelling choice in itself. The elements of the recognizable world that get left behind are just as much a part of building out a future world as what’s included or how people interact.

In the new Amazon series “The Feed,” there’s less of an initial attempt to come up with bizarre fashion choices or crazy-tech vehicles. The biggest change is the overall shift to fewer things and greater empty space. Office areas are sparse. Living rooms are bare. Even the streets seem less crowded. That’s due in major part to The Feed, a near-universal technology that works much in the way Google Glass was supposed to. Via a device implanted in each “enabled” user, people can send messages, watch video, even project augmented reality-like changes

The NBC drama was the biggest grower of the week, jumping 80% from a 1.4 to a 2.5 after three days of delayed viewing, benefiting from a series low performance from the Fox singing competition show. “The Masked Singer” grew from a 1.6 rating to a 2.4.

Grey’s Anatomy” and “9-1-1” tied for third among scripted shows, both growing 62% from a 1.3 in Live+Same Day to a 2.1 in L+3.

‘The Mandalorian’ Review: Predictable but Intense Episode 3 Sets Up Exciting Midseason Arc

‘The Mandalorian’ Review: Predictable but Intense Episode 3 Sets Up Exciting Midseason Arc
[Editor’s note: The following review of “The Mandalorian” contains spoilers for the third episode, “Chapter 3: The Sin.”]

“The Baby Yoda Show feat. Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian” hits its stride in the Disney+ series’ third episode and sets itself up for an exciting midseason arc. Though the marquee Disney+ launch title still hasn’t managed to shake that nagging feeling of predictability, it’s an issue largely offset by the series’ genuinely fun moment-to-moment action and oodles of fan service.

As expected, “Chapter 3: The Sin” focuses on the Mandalorian delivering his Force-sensitive quarry to Werner Herzog’s mysterious Imperial-connected character. But since abandoning Baby Yoda to Herzog would be a jerk move, the Mandalorian, armed with some impressive new gadgets and armor, sets off to rescue the series’ true breakout star.

That’s the gist of things, and it plays out more or less how one would expect. That the early story beats on
